Assoc.Dr Selen Korad Birkiye
Art Education Scientist
He was born in Ankara in 1966. He graduated from METU Department of Sociology in 1988. In 1990, she started attending classes as a guest student at Ankara University DTCF Dramatic Writing Department. In 1996 she received her master’s degree from METU and in 1997 she completed her pedagogy formation from Yıldız University. In 2004, she received her doctorate degree from Ankara University, Curriculum and Instruction, Culture and Art Sciences Education Programme. In 2013, he became an associate professor.

In 1990, she started working at Ankara State Theatre. Since 1995, he worked as Press and Public Relations Coordinator, Stage Manager, Project Coordinator and Dramaturg at Istanbul State Theatre. Between 2008-2014, he worked as the assistant director in charge of repertoire at İDT. He was awarded the İsmet Küntay Best Dramaturg Award and the Anatolian Theatre Awards Lifetime Achievement Labour Award. Birkiye is still working in this position at Istanbul State Theatre.

She participated in many international symposiums on theatre and creative drama and workshops with masters such as Dorothy Heathcote, David Davis, John Sommers, Kathleen Gallager, Luciano Iogna, Ruth Burgess, Patrice Baldwin. She has been a creative drama trainer since 1996. She also teaches and works as a project consultant in the leader training programmes of the Contemporary Drama Association.

He has given undergraduate and graduate courses on art management, art marketing, case study analysis, theatre history, contemporary theatre, dramaturgy and rehearsal theory and directed undergraduate and graduate theses at Mimar Sinan University, Anadolu University, Istanbul University, Istanbul Aydın University, Beykent University. He still continues his lectures at MGSU and Istanbul Aydın University.

His book titled “Intercultural Tendency in Contemporary Theatre” was published in 2007 by Deki publications, and his book on art management titled “İşletmek or İşletememek İşte Bütün Mesele Bu” was published in 2013 by MSGSU publications. Birkiye, whose articles have been published in various magazines and scientific publications, also has puppet plays and play translations.

She completed her Family Sequence training and became a Family Sequence expert.
